Droid News: Droid X Update to Android 2.2 Froyo Upgrade 2Morrow

DroidXupdate.JPGMotorola reps previously hinted that the Android 2.2 update to Froyo for the Droid X would be available in September and they were right.  Verizon will launch the update tomorrow for Droid X users. Verizon calls Motorola's new Android 2.2 software upgrade for the Droid X, Motorola (Version.2.3.15.MB810.Verizon.en.US/BP _ C _ 01.09.07P.)

The Android Froyo update includes 22 improvements, including support of Adobe Flash 10.1, MS Exchange fixes, camera improvements, a better browser, a re-designed calendar, Bluetooth voice dialing and the ability to listen to music and view visual voicemail at the same time. There are better mobile Wi-Fi hotspots and easier transitions between Wi-Fi and 3G without losing the connection.  A major improvement is the ability to store apps on the microSD card, allowing for more space for apps.

  • Easily edit MMS messages after attaching video files.
  • Manage message history from Contact application.
  • Transition from Wi-Fi and 3G without losing data connection.
  • Improved 3G Mobile Hotspot application.
  • Visual Voice Mail updates include simplified setup, improved notifications, and updated display features.
  • Easily listen to voice mail via Bluetooth when using the Visual Voice Mail application.
  • Manage contacts with updated Backup Assistant.
