Android Re-Styled
The Samsung Fascinate is shipped with Android version 2.1 and will be updated in the coming months. The Droid X has been updated to Android 2.2. Added on top of Android on the Droid X is a Motorola user interface, that adds social networking and home screens. The Samsung Fascinate has a custom user
interface that adds a Social Hub, Media Hub, Integrated Contacts, News Feeds, AllShare DLNA, note-taking and Weather.
Wireless and Mobile News has two article that can help you with the different user interfaces- Droid X Tip an' Tricks and Samsung Galaxy S: (Samsung Fascinate) Tips an' Tricks.
Screen Screening
The Droid X is slightly bigger than the
Fascinate because of its larger display, which may help when using a touchscreen keyboard. The Droid X (4.3? TFT display, 480×854 pixels) has a slightly bigger,
slightly higher resolution than the Samsung Fascinate (4? display, 480×800
pixels). The Fascinate is equipped with an ultra-thin Super AMOLED (active-matrix organic light-emitting diode) screen. The Super AMOLED screen
is brighter, has less
sunlight reflection, and has reduced power consumption.
Memory/Storage
The Droid X comes with a total of 24GB of storage
space (8GB on-board, pre-installed 16GB microSD card), while the Samsung
Fascinate has a total of 18GB of storage space (2GB on-board,
pre-installed 16GB microSD card). Both smartphones can support up to a 32GB
microSD card.
Camera Pick?
Both Android smartphones are equipped with great cameras, with autofocus and the
ability to record HD-quality video up to 720P. The Droid X has an
8-megapixel camera with brighter dual LED flash, however, while the
Fascinate has a 5-megapixel camera with single LED flash. The
difference in megapixels is only seen when printing very large images.
Processor
Both the Droid X and the Samsung Fascinate have a 1GHz processor, yet each test differently in reviews.
