One of the ways Google lets the world know that a new upated version of Android is coming is by their large lawn ornaments.
Just before Android 2.1 Eclair launched, there was a giant Eclair statute.
For Froyo Android 2.2 there was a dish of frozen yogurt. A YouTube video reveals a Gingerbread man being installed at the Google campus in Mountain View, California.
It is not clear if Gingerbread will be numbered Android 2.3 or 3.0, but it is definitely the name of the next Android operating system update.
Typically, the SDK is relased prior to the actual software for smartphones. Andy Rubin said that Gingerbread will include better social media sync, better gaming options, and ways to blend the web with apps. It is also specualted that Gingerbread will have:
- Built-in Video Chart.
- SIP support for Wi-Fi and data calling.
- Graphic redesign by Matia Duarte who created the face of webOS for the Palm Pre.
- Better Goggle app integration.
- Google TV remote control.
Note: Last year on October 19, Google installed the giant Eclair in time for holiday launches of new Android smartphones, including the Droid by Motorola.
