GOGII, creator of textPlus free group texting app has partnered with MetroPCS. TextPlus offers free group text messages and pictures, which some have called "chat rooms" for mobile phones.
The deal allows MetroPCS customers to text with multiple contacts at once, at no extra charge, on the $45 and $50 service plans.
To get started, MetroPCS users send the message "!chat" to the textPlus 60611 short code, which prompts them to enter in the contacts they want to include in their group chat. Once they've done this, textPlus connects them to the group, and the conversation begins.
Since its launch in the U.S. on June 1, 2009, textPlus has become one of the most popular text messaging applications available, with over 9 million downloads to date, a user network that spans 24 million people, and over 3.5 billion messages already sent.
TextPlus brings ad-supported real texting and group texting to the iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and Android phones through both its mobile application and permanent short code, 60611. TextPlus is carrier and Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) compliant and enables seamless interaction between textPlus application users and their friends using regular text messaging (SMS).
