Virgin Mobile has lowered the bar for pricing prepaid plans with voice, text and data. There are now three payLo prepaid plans, which they claim ends "consumers overpaying for minutes and data." They say that the Paylo plan offers greater value for those who use their cell phones mostly to talk but still need the occasional text/picture or email message.
Of course, you have to pay for the phone upfront. Virgin Mobile still offers unlimited, text, email, web, with 300 talk minutes for $35 a month.
The PayLo plan that launched today for $30 a month includes:
- 1,500 voice minutes.
- 500 messages that can be used for text, picture, email or IM.
- 10MB of data.
- Expires in 1 month.
400 Minutes a Month Plan
- 400 minutes.
- Text messages for 15 cents each.
- Web access for $1.50 a megabyte.
- Expires in 1 month.
Basic $20 Month Plan
- 20 cents a minute for voice.
- Messages for 15 cents each.
- Web access $1.50 a megabyte.
- Expires in 90 days.
Virgin mobile suggests that, when users add $30 every month, they get minutes as low as 2¢ on the 1,500-Minute Plan. When users add $20 every month, they get minutes as low as 5¢ on the 400-Minute Plan.
