Thumbnail image for GalaxySinGal.JPGSamsung has entered the high-end Android universe in full force.  Samsung announced that since June, it has sold over five million Samsung Galaxy S smartphones in the world market, two million in the United States and one million in Korea.

The sales figures in just four months almost matches smartphone sales figures for last year, for Samsung.

Samsung expects to sell another five milllion Samsung Galaxy S smartphones by the end of 2010. On September 5, Samsung announced that they had shipped one million Samsung Galaxy S smartphones to the United States.

"The target sounds achievable as Samsung has plenty of cards
to play, including price cuts and extending offerings to a wider
group of carriers," said Seo Won-seok, an analyst at NH
Investment & Securities. "The only risk will be a shortage of key
components such as high-quality display screens.
