Glee star Mark Salling's record release party for his debut album Pipe Dreams was held Oct. 21 at Xomad's third installment of "The BlackBerry Messenger Lounge," a series of private events in Hollywood sponsored by BlackBerry.
The event featured BlackBerry-themed hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, like BlackBerry lemonade. BlackBerry owners were able to put their smartphone to full use with VIP guests being able to use the BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) to order drinks and food directly to their tables. VIPs were also able to meet Salling and pose for pictures with him on the built-in red carpet in the upstairs VIP section.
The venue catered to BBM integrations to all digital bloggers with BlackBerry smartphones placed on an invite group prior to the events and given tips and images to get into the event. LiveStream was added to each group to pull photos and comments, and BBM concierges wandered around the event to help with integrations.
Besides Salling, other celebrities were in attendance. Celebrities included Salling's Glee co-star Josh Sussman, Quiton Aaron who played Michael Oher in The Blind Side, Katrina Smirnoff from Dancing with the Stars, Reid Ewing from Modern Family, E! News correspondent Jason Kennedy, James Preston from the TV show The Gates, Taylor Cole from the TV show The Event, Rayna Tharani from the upcoming film For Colored Girls and others.
Salling took the stage during the event to perform songs from his debut album Pipe Dreams, including his title track "Pipe Dreams." Salling's debut album Pipe Dreams went on sale Oct. 23 and is available on iTunes and Amazon.
