Many Samsung Galaxy S Samsung Epic 4G owners have been wishing for an update to Android 2.2 Froyo for Christmas. It looks like their wishes will be fulfilled, only a day late. The Android Froyo update is coming the Sunday after Christmas, December 26.
Our readers will recall that most information suggested updates to the Samsung Galaxy S phones by the end of the year. The Samsung Epic 4G came second place in Wireless and Mobile News' Top Ten Best Smartphones Review of Reviews.
A leaked screenshot of an internal Sprint memo reveals that the update will be sent via Google OTA (Over-the-Air) starting December 26. It will take 7-8 minutes to download and 6-8 minutes to install. It will be pushed out over a four-day period.
The update will include:
- Upgrade to Android 2.2.1 Froyo.
- Ability to install apps on external storage.
- Improved Bluetooth device support.
- Bluetooth Voice Dialing.
- Flash Player 10.1.
- GPS Enhancements.

All Samsung Galaxy S phones

microSD, Wi-Fi, and Android 2.1. Samsung has added on TouchWiz software
for a social hub as well as a media hub for online viewing.
Differences come in the amount of internal storage, size of the microSD
card included, mobile hotspot capabilities, keyboard style, and the speed
of data networks.
