LG announed the LG Optimus Black with a brighter
4-inch NOVA touchscreen that is a slim 9.2 mm, which LG claims makes it the thinnest in the world.. LG Optimus Black will ship with Android 2.2 Froyo and be updated to Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
The LG Optimus Black also has a 2MP front-facing camera for higher quality video
telephony conferencing since upgrading to Android's
Gingerbread.
LG Optimus Black's NOVA display is designed to be bright, clear and reader-friendly. NOVA uses the same IPS LCD technology as the Apple iPhone 4 but at lower (800 x 480) resolution. However, NOVA has higher brightness (700
nits). The iPhone is 500 nits and Samsung Galaxy S is 300 nits. The LG Optimus Black has a 1GHz OMAP processor, 5MP camera on the back, and 2GB of internal
storage.
The LG Optimus Black has an added
UI 2.0 that lets users directly access messages, emails, and missed calls
from the locked screen with just one single finger tap. The Gesture UI
offers more intuitive commands, including lifting, shaking and tapping,
for taking calls, entering camera mode, or enjoying music. LG Optimus Black also introduces the world's first Wi-Fi Direct for quick and high-quality data transfer between devices.
Besides greater luminosity, the NOVA display on LG Optimus Black
also radically reduces power consumption by 50 percent during general
indoor use compared to a conventional LCD. Similarly, AMOLED consumes
twice as much power as NOVA to display a full white screen, the most
frequently used color scheme for web browsing. Combined with the 1500mAh battery of the LG Optimus Black, users will have enough power for
their daily needs, even at maximum brightness settings.
