AT&T Boosts Fees - Discontinuing Discounts, Changes Text Plans & Increases Voice Calls to Canada 1/23

AT&Ttextingcreature.JPGOn the heels of the Sprint unlimited data/voice increase of $10 per month, AT&T will reportedly be changing fees, incentives, and prices on wireless services this Sunday, January 23.

According to internet reports, AT&T will discontinue the upgrade discount program with $50 and $100 discount on upgraded phones (Like Verizon's New Every Two).

The Family Plan add-a-line activation fee has been raised from $10 to $36.
Text plans have also changed with a new &10 plan for 1,000 text messages (10 cents each text overage), eliminating the 200 for $5 and 1,500 for $15
options.  The only other options are $20 unlimited messaging for
individual plans and $30 unlimited messaging for $30 family plans.

International
callers will see an increase.  International voice roaming prices are
changing in 117 countries, and Calling to Canada is going from 29 cents
per minute to 39 cents.

The 3G MicroCell signal booster will increase from $149 to $199.

AT&T ended its unlimited data plan last June and offers two-tiered data plans:  a $15 per month 200-megabyte plan or a $25
per month plan with 2 gigabytes of data.  T-Mobile is trying to undercut other carriers with a $10 4G data plan for 200 megabytes of data per month.
