After years of speculation and rumors from all over the world, Verizon will start selling the iPhone 4 on February 10 with exclusive presale starting on February 3 for "qualified Verizon Wireless customers."
The Verizon iPhone 4 was announced at a press event in New York this morning. The Verizon iPhone 4 is almost the same as the iPhone for AT&T except it has a CDMA optimized antenna and Wi-Fi personal hotspot capability (for up to 5 connections). Side buttons are in slightly different places than the iPhone 4 for AT&T.
The iPhone 4 for Verizon is priced at $199 for 16GB and $299 for 32GB with a contract. Although there is a 4 in the name of the iPhone 4, it is not a 4G LTE phone. This confusion was noted in a recent Nielsen study. Verizon iPhone customers will not be able to use voice and data at the same time, a standard situation with CDMA phones.
iPhone 4 features a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, HD video
recording, Apple's A4 chip, a 3-axis gyro, and a beautiful glass and
stainless steel design like no other mobile phone. iPhone 4 also comes
with iOS 4, which includes multitasking, folders, Game Center, AirPlay and AirPrint
wireless printing. iPhone 4 customers have access to the Apple App Store with more than 300,000 apps. The iPhone 4 also features a high resolution 940x640-pixel (326 pixels per square inch) retina display.
Verizon has some FAQ online with answers to common questions. Data plan options have not been set.
"Are there minimum service and data pricing requirements?
Yes, iPhone customers will need to choose from any of the
current nationwide plans. Customers will also be required to activate a
data package, pricing will be announced at a later date."
If unlimited data is available for the iPhone 4 at Verizon, it may be a deal breaker for some.
It would be really nice if Verizon allowed Instant Phone Rebate Only Available with Online Purchase coupon-link for the iPhone 4.
