According to the the Wall Street Journal, Verizon will reveal its new 4G LTE partners for smartphones, tablets and software at CES. 4G LTE data revenue is important for Verizon to offset sales of declining voice-minute revenue.
We already knew form a Verizon tweet that LTE will be Android-powered because Verizon tweeted that Android and LTE are like "peanut butter and chocolate." The new 4G LTE will be marketed to make it easier for super-fast data and to watch mobile video.
Verizon partners inlcude Samsung Electronics, Motorola, HTC and LG.
Leaked documents suggest that HTC will unveil the HTC
Thunderbolt.
Verizon's CEO, Ivan Seidenberg, will make a keynote speech at CES, and
Verizon will have a booth with several smartphone makers, chip makers, and
consumer electronics companies. The booth will showcase apps for 4G LTE,
such as video and mutliplayer gaming.
Although no pricing has been set for Verizon 4G LTE service, pricing is expected to be tiered by usage.
