As we reported yesterday, January 15 is an important date for Verizon switchers, before the Verizon iPhone becomes available on February 3 for Verizon customers and February 20 for others. On Saturday, Verizon will phase out the "New Every Two" program that gave Verizon customers credits of $30-$100 with the purchase of a new phone, with a contract. Existing customers can get the credit if they renew before January 15.
Verizon has also ended the discounted phone deal that starts at 13 months of a 24-month contract. The deal will start at the 20th month of the contract.
Analysts suggest that the changes are to protect profits. In general, the cost of iPhones for carriers is much higher than the cost of other phones.
