Sony Ericsson Playstation Gaming Phone Coming Soon, Xperia Arc Archetype Game PlayStation Phone

SonyXperiaArc.jpgSony will reportedly unveil a new gaming-focused so-called Playstation touchscreen phone in February.  Bloomberg received the information on the smartphone from "two people with knowledge of the plans."

The move is part of a strategy to use networked devices to share games, movies and music across Sony products, including TVs and handheld devices.

The "game-changing" Sony Ericsson Xperia-style phone is expected to be launched at Mobile World Congress in February.  The phone has also been called Xperia Play.

Sony Ericsson recently introduced the latest model in its Xperia range, the Xperia arc.  The arc combines Sony software with the Google Android 2.3.  It runs a 1GHz Qualcomm processor and has a 4.2-inch touchscreen, 8.1-megapixel camera, Bluetooth and GPS.  The Sony Xperia arc specs follow.  Use your imagination to see how Sony would turn the specs into a real game-changing PlayStation smartphone.

The Xperia arc is the
first of a new generation of Xperia smartphones to be announced in 2011.

The Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine delivers exceptional visual
brilliance and a crystal clear image, which enhances the overall
entertainment experience.  Furthermore, Sony's award-winning Exmor R for
mobile sensor with the f/2.4 lens, enables the capture of high quality,
bright pictures, and HD videos even in low light.  All pictures and videos
can be shared in HD on your living room TV via the built-in
HDMI-connector.
