Wi-Fi access gets expensive, especially when traveling. Skype announced Skype Access pay-as-you-go internet access through Wi-Fi hotspot providers around the globe.
Skype Access allows you to pay per minute using Skype Credit to control
your costs at rates starting at 6 cents per minute. All you
need is a connection to a Skype Access compatible hotspot and the latest
version of Skype for Mac or Windows.
Skype users in Spain will be very happy during Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona. Skype Access will be free to use from 0001 CET on the 14th of February 2011
to 2359 CET on the 18th of February 2011 across the whole of Spain.
Skype users can access the internet through Wi-Fi operator partners in over 500,000 hotspots around the world,
including 500 airports, 30,000 hotels and numerous cafes, trains,
planes, offices buildings, and convention centers.
Here's how it works: Download Skype and add credit. Sign in to Skype and select an available public-access Wi-Fi network. You'll get an automatic pop-up message. If the network you select is not available via Skype, you can select another. Pay per minute for what you use. Once connected, you pay using your Skype Credit only for the minutes you use.
