CTIA has announced the finalists of the BIG Idea Contest, GreatCall, LOC-AID, Smith Micro, Xpolis and ZoomSafer.
GreatCall, Inc. - Mobile Personal Security
GreatCall customers can use their cell phone to connect via one-touch access to a 24/7 staff of trained Emergency Response Operators who dispatch appropriate help, such as police or a tow truck. GreatCall uses the most accurate GPS technology available to pinpoint a user's location, which is invaluable in an emergency. Users can even set up a Personal Emergency Profile that includes their medications, emergency contacts, and information that assists in providing fast and appropriate aid.
LOC-AID Technologies, Inc. - LOCAIDER
The objective of LOCAIDER is to provide the wireless subscriber with
the ultimate in privacy management and viability to location-enabled
applications on their phone. The product will provide transparency
around the location applications that the subscribers has completed an
OPT-IN for on a specific mobile phone number.
LOCAIDER will be available in both web-based and phone-based
versions. LOCAIDER will be open to current LOC-AID developers,
non-LOC-AID developers and wireless carriers.
Smith Micro Software - Secure On Device API - SODA
SODA (Secure On Device API) is a global solution for device
communication that provides a consistent interface across all mobile
broadband devices, form factors, hardware/software manufacturers,
chipset suppliers, and operating systems. The result is faster time to
market with increased quality and a more consistent user experience
across the wireless eco-system. In the end, SODA reduces customer
support costs, enhances user experience, and increases adoption of
mobile broadband products. By providing a consistent hardware and
software cross-platform interface, carriers, and consumer software and
electronics manufacturers can launch more devices and applications in a
scalable manner through the SODA API.
XPOUS LLC - iGenApps: The App Generator
IGenApps is an app generator that lets you create your own app straight
from your phone or mobile device. You don't need to be a programmer to create an App anymore, and your app can be ready in just a few seconds.
ZoomSafer - FleetSafer Vision
FleetSafer Vision is the world's first distracted driving solution to
support any type of phone (not just smart phones) and requires no on
device software. A cloud-based software service, FleetSafer Vision
integrates vehicular telematics data (trip information, location, speed,
etc.) with mobile device billing data (phone calls, text messages,
etc.) and other information (email logs, weather, traffic, etc.), so
fleet operators can measure and manage risk and liability associated
with employee use of mobile phones while driving.
The five BIG Idea finalists will briefly present during International CTIA WIRELESS on Tuesday, March 22 at 11:30 a.m. on the Exhibit Innovations Stage. The top three submissions with the highest number of votes will be announced and declared the winners of The CTIA WIRELESS BIG Idea Contest. The winners will make full-length presentations to show attendees on March 22 and March 23.
