The Droid spies at MobiZone have leaked Droid X2 photos and specs. The Droid X2 is about the same size as the original Droid X except that it has a qHD (540 x 960) touchscreen, and it will not support LTE. The Droid X2 was formerly code-named Daytona.
The speculated specs of the Droid X2 include Android 2.2 Froyo (updated to 2.3 Gingerbread later), NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core 1GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 8-megapixel camera, FM radio, locked/encrypted boot loader and removal of the dedicated camera key.
Launch date of the Droid X2 is suspected to be in the second quarter of this year.
The Droid X2 will also supposedly ship with the latest version of MOTOBLUR, which includes new social media and music features. We, however, believe it will be a Verizon-adapted version of MOTOBLUR with some special features.
Other Droids in the near future at Verizon include the Droid Incredible 2, Droid 3 and Samsung Stealth. We published a timeline of the Droid succession a few days ago.
New Features of MOTOBLUR
Connected Music: music sharing and buying service. Consumers
can follow what friends are listening to, get recommendations on new
songs and purchase them immediately. Lyrics
are streamed while the music plays.
Connected Gallery: merges photos and videos on
your phone together with you and your friends' online albums from
Facebook, FlickrT, Photobucket, Picasa and more. Users
get pushed updates when new media is uploaded or friends comment on
online media.
Aloqa: Aloqa's open,
location-triggered mobile push platform has been integrated into the
MOTOBLUR experience, enabling third-party publishers to utilize a user's
location, identity and social relationships, to proactively inform them
of places, events, bargains and other opportunities that may be of
interest through "channels". These channels are active only when the
user selects them, providing relevant data only when the user is
looking for it and without being intrusive.
The
redesigned MOTOBLUR Owners Portal enables users to continue to locate
and wipe their phone remotely if lost or stolen - and to back up user
data, such as contacts, account settings, and phone configurations with a
new, streamlined user interface.
