HTC announced super social smartphones with the new HTC Sense and one-touch connectivity to Facebook, running Android 2.3 Gingerbread 2.3 and the new HTC Sense. The names of the smartphones come from two popular dances - the HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa. The social media-dancing smartphones may come to the United States from AT&T.
The Facebook button on HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa is context-aware. A light blinks whenever there is an opportunity to share content or
updates through Facebook. Both smartphones have 3G data access, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 600MHz processors, and memory expandable up to 32GB via a microSD slot.
The HTC ChaCha has a unique tilt design and QWERTY
keyboard, so it is easy to view and comfortable to type. It features dual cameras, including a 5-megapixel color camera with autofocus, LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera. The ChaCha has a 2.6-inch, 480 x 320
resolution landscape touchscreen. Because it has a QWERTY keyboard, it should also be easy to use the ChaCha texting answer service.
The HTC Salsa has a 3.4-inch, 480 x 320 resolution touchscreen with a 5-megapixel camera. Upload your
photos to Facebook at the touchscreen. For face-to-face
conversations on the move, the VGA forward-facing camera enables
high-quality video calling.
Because of the features, we suspect that these new HTC Android smartphones will be marketed to social savvy teens and twenty-somethings.
Today HTC also announced the HTC ThunderBolt is shipping and the next Android Incredible smartphone, the HTC Incredible S.
