The HTC Inspire went on sale on Sunday, and the 4G LTE HTC ThunderBolt is coming from Verizon on February 24. How can HTC improve on its incredible smartphones? HTC announced the HTC Incredible S with a larger touchscreen, contoured body, and improved 8-megapixel and front-facing camera.
The HTC Incredible S will run Android 2.2 Froyo with a future update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It will have a 4-inch WVGA (800 x480) touchscreen (previous Incredible had a 3.7”), a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, 768 of RAM, 1.1GB of internal storage that is expandable via a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a 1450 mAh battery.
A new feature is that the touch-sensitive buttons below the screen will
switch orientation if you turn the phone sideways to landscape. The news
release mentions that it is DLNA capable.
We are wondering if this Incredible S will be repackaged and branded as the Droid Incredible 2 on
Verizon. Typically, HTC will use parts from other models to make new
ones. There hasn’t been any word yet from HTC if there will be a
Verizon version. Verizon, however, recently has not been announcing smartphones until less than one week before they’re released. Reporters from the Mobile World Congress floor are already suggesting
that the Droid Incredible 2 will be very similar.
Yesterday we showed leaked photos of the Droid X2, and we published a timeline of the Droid succession a few days ago.
