Verizon announced only one new soon-to-be 4G LTE-enabled device today, the Motorola Xoom that will go on sale in two days, February 24. Since there was no announcement for the HTC ThunderBolt, we can now be sure that it will not go on sale February 24 as rumored.
Although we don't know the HTC ThunderBolt's exact price (either $249.99 or $299.99), the launch date or data pricing plans, we do know what the latest commercial for it claims.
"Introducing the ThunderBolt from HTC immense power, scorching speed,
the first phone strong enough to run on the fastest, most advanced 4G
network in America." There is a title on the screen at the end,
"ThunderBolt by HTC Coming Soon."
As a power cable is shown connected to a a lightning rod, there is a very light message in the corner of the screen, "Do not attempt." We agree. When you do finally get a ThunderBolt by HTC, do not try to power it with a lightning rod. Connect it to the charger that comes in the box (see unboxing video).
Over the weekend, there were signs of a delay of the HTC ThunderBolt release as well as conflicting prices on different Best Buy publications. There was also a rumor that the launch was delayed because of Skype. Friday research via Google Trends revealed a very hot buzz for the HTC ThunderBolt.
HTC ThunderBolt is a 4G LTE Android 2.2 smartphone with HTC
Sense,
a 4.3-inch touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Skype video calling,
mobile hotspots, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Other features include a
built-in kickstand, Dolby/SRS surround sound, and DLNA support.
