A leaked screenshot showed that the HTC ThunderBolt release from Verizon has been delayed, and a new video has surfaced that shows it off. A Best Buy sales associate confirmed that Best Buy is still taking preorders for this first LTE smartphone from Verizon Wireless.
Update 02/24/11 5:56 pm- At a Verizon VIP event a launch date of 3/3 or 3/4 was
mentioned as well as an unlimited 4G LTE data plan for $29.99. A tweet
from Roseville Best Buy store suggests a March 4th launch date.
Wirefly has released a video of the unboxing of the HTC ThunderBolt. It looks a lot like the HTC EVO 4G. It is the first smartphone to use Verizon's LTE network. The new LTE service requires an SIM card underneath the battery, which Wirefly does not have. The box contains a preinstalled 32GB microSD card.
Wirefly shows a preproduction model. The HTC ThunderBolt has a
kickstand for video viewing. The battery is a 1400 mAH battery and
comes with a USB cable and USB-connected wall charger.
HTC ThunderBolt is a 4G LTE Android 2.2 smartphone with HTC
Sense,
4.3-inch touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Skype video calling,
mobile hotspots, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Other features include a
built-in kickstand, Dolby/SRS surround sound, and DLNA support. See the unboxing video below.
