The price of the Motorola Xoom Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet has been confirmed by Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha at Mobile World Congress. The Motorola Xoom will be unsubsidized at Verizon with a $799 price tag and the Wi-Fi-only version will cost around $600.
The expected launch date of the Motorola Xoom is February 24, along with the other 4G LTE device from Verizon, the HTC ThunderBolt.
The Motorola Xoom has a dual-core processor with each core running at 1GHz, delivering up to two GHz of processing power, and a 10.1-inch widescreen (1280x800) HD
touchscreen. It will first launch at Verizon with 3G and then will
upgrade to LTE. The original announcement stated "starting in Q2 2011, the Motorola XOOM will be 4G LTE/Wi-Fi-enabled."
Motorola is expected to flood the market with 1 million Xoom tablets shipped in the first quarter of this year.
The Motorola Xoom won many awards at CES.
The Motorola Xoom
features a front-facing 2-megapixel camera for video chats over Wi-Fi
or 3G/4G LTE, as well as a rear-facing, 5-megapixel camera that captures
video in 720p HD. Other features include 32GB of storage, SD slot for card support (after a firmware update) and 1GB of DDR2 RAM.
The Motorola Xoom allows users to view HD content, it supports 1080p HD video, and has an HDMI output. Accessories for it include a sound dock, charging dock, and wireless keyboard. There is no indication yet from Verizon Wireless online when it will officially go on sale or presale.
