Samsung Galaxy S Price Update: Samsung Galaxy S 4G Corrected Cost $199

Thumbnail image for Samsung galaxy S 4G.JPGIt seems as if carriers and retailers can't decide what to charge for their smartphones.  Yesterday we reported that the HTC ThunderBolt had two different prices in different Best Buy publications - $249.99 and $299.99.  T-Mobile last week announced that the price for the Samsung Galaxy S 4G would be $149.99 with a February 23 release date.

T-Mobile updated the original news release with corrected pricing information.

"The Galaxy S 4G is expected to be available from T-Mobile for $199.99
with qualifying plan on two-year service agreement after a $50
mail-in-rebate card.  Taxes and fees additional."

Wirefly, however, is discounting the new price for it.  The Galaxy S 4G has a lower buzz factor on Google than the Motorola Atrix (read review), HTC Inspire (read review) and HTC ThunderBolt. Specs of the Samsung Galaxy S 4G include Android 2.2 Froyo, a
front-facing camera, 4-inch
Super AMOLED touchscreen, 1GHz processor, 16GB memory onboard, Wi-Fi,
Bluetooth, and a 5-megapixel camera with HD video recording.  At Mobile
World Congress, Samsung announced the latest Samsung Galaxy S phone, the Samsung Galaxy S II.

T-Mobile claims that the Samsung Galaxy S 4G is the fastest smartphone, running with theoretical peak download speeds of up to 21 Mbps.  It comes preloaded with the movie Inception.  The Samsung Galaxy S 4G features HD TV with Samsung Media Hub and video chat with Qik.

Samsung Galaxy S smartphones in the U.S. currently include the Samsung Epic 4G, Samsung Fascinate, Samsung Captivate and Samsung Vibrant.

Many of the Samsung Galaxy S phones were named in Wireless and Mobile News' Review of Reviews Top Ten Best Android an' Droid Phones Now an' Later, as well as the Top Ten Best Smartphones.
