Sony Plays Forward Xperia with Sony Xperia Play & PlayStation Suite

Sony showed off the Xperia Play today at Mobile World Congress.  The Xperia Play will be a Verizon Wireless exclusive later this spring and is a hybrid cross of a PlayStation-like controller and Android smartphone.

The Xperia Play runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a 4-inch touchscreen that slides out to reveal game pad controls.  It feature Wi-Fi hotspot modes, customized home screens, 5.1-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a personal organizer, a speakerphone, Assisted-GPS, messaging and e-mail.
The game pad has a DigitalDpad, two analogue touch pads,
two shoulder buttons and four PlayStation icons: circle, cross,
square and triangle.  Qualcomm's optimized Snapdragon processor with a
1Ghz CPU and embedded Adreno GPU graphics processor will offer great graphics speeds.

The Xperia Play will be the first PlayStation
Certified device with access to PlayStation game
content provided through the PlayStation Suite initiative, which will
launch later
this year.  Sony has gathered a list of major game developers to
participate in game development, including Electroinic Arts, Gameloft,
Digital chocolate and Namco Bandai Networks.
