While looking at the Verizon Wireless new products page that shows the new Motorola Xoom tablet, we noticed a new Verizon product. Home Phone Connect connects to any landline phone to enable you to make and receive Verizon Wireless phone calls on a regular handset in your home.
When you bring your home phone number to Verizon or activate a new line, you can get the Home Phone Connect device free with a two-year activation. Otherwise, the Home Phone Connect costs $129.99.
The service includes Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, Caller ID, 3-Way Calling, International Dialing, Voice Mail, 411, 611 and 911. No internet or broadband connection is required. The service extends the Verizon CDMA network into your home using the Home Phone Connect device.
There are two ways to use the service - either by adding it on to Family Share plan for $9.99 a month, which uses your contract minutes, or by buying the $19.99 unlimited calling plan. When you buy it online from Verizon Wireless with a 2-year contract, the Home Phone Connect is free.
Home Phone Connect is an analog telephone adapter that provides you with home phone service on Verizon Wireless' code division
multiple access (CDMA) network. Home Phone Connect is designed to operate anywhere within the Verizon
Wireless coverage area and should provide coverage at your location that
is consistent with your experience with your current Verizon Wireless
device.
The Home Phone Connect will work during a power outage because it has a backup battery. However, if your home telephone
requires external power to operate, service (including the ability to
make and receive 911 calls) won't be available during a power outage.
