Software updates are coming for these Sprint Samsung Galaxy S smartphones and tablets - the Samsung Epic 4G, Samsung Galaxy Tab and Samsung Transform, starting next week.

The well-reviewed Samsung Epic 4G began getting an update for the Android 2.2 Froyo on February 21, which was stopped after problems arose. The new Android software update, Android 2.2.1, build EC05, will be pushed out Over-the-Air (OTA) over four days starting March 21 (Monday). It will take 10 to 20 minutes to download and 8 to 10 minutes to install.
The Samsung Epic 4G update features include the addition of Sprint ID, ability to install apps to external storage, improved Bluetooth
device support, Bluetooth voice dialing, Flash Player 10.1, GPS
enhancements, and improved OS performance.
The Samsung Transform update will start on March 24. Enhancements/fixes include upgrade to Android 2.2 (Froyo), addition of Swype,
Sprint Zone 2.5, Sprint ID activation improvements, Google Syncing
errors, landscape mode issues on Home Screen, Search shortcut key,
Sprint 3G Mobile HotSpot, and updating from version DI01 to DI11 with
Bluetooth on.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab update adds Sprint ID features.
Warning, you will not be able to make emergency calls during the
update process. We also suggest that you back up your data before the
update, just to be safe. Be sure that your phone is fully charged before starting the update.
The Samsung Epic 4G received second place in Wireless and Mobile News’ Top Ten Best Smartphones Review of Reviews. It also appears in Wireless and Mobile News’ Review of Reviews Top Ten Best Android an’ Droid Phones Now an’ Later. Its status was lowered after the last update was aborted.
The Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Captivate, recieved an update to the Android 2.2 Froyo via the Kies Mini app. The Samsung Vibrant was the first Samsung Galaxy S smartphone in the United States to be updated to Android 2.2 Froyo.
