Forum support notes offer this valuable suggestion, "If you do not receive the update, try downloading or updating an application from the Android Market.  This has been known to trigger the software update."

The well-reviewed Samsung Epic 4G began getting an update for the Android 2.2 Froyo on February 21, which was stopped after problems arose.  The new Android software update, Android 2.2.1, build EC05, will take 10 to 20 minutes to download and 8 to 10 minutes to install.  Software version is: S:D700.0.5S.EC05.  Only Samsung Epic 4G smartphones with software versions DI18 and EB13 will receive the update.

The Samsung Epic 4G update features include update to Android
2.2, the addition of Sprint ID, ability to install apps to external
storage, improved Bluetooth device support, Bluetooth voice dialing,
Flash Player 10.1, GPS enhancements, Email PIN based authentication,
tethering for 3G/4G, and improved OS performance.

Warning, you will not be able to make emergency calls during the
update process.  We also suggest that you back up your data before the
update, just to be safe.  Be sure that your phone is fully charged before starting the update.

How to Check for Update:

  • Go to the Home screen.
  • Tap Menu > Settings > About phone > System updates
    >Update Android.
  • Your phone will automatically download and install any available
    updates.

You may need to power your phone off and back on to complete
