April is usually a great launch time for Verizon Android an' Droid smartphones. The original Droid Incredible launched in April of 2010. Now it looks like Verizon Wireless
has set release dates for many super Android an' Droid smartphones this April - the Samsung Galaxy Stealth Droid Charge, Sony Xperia Play, the HTC Trophy and Droid Incredible 2 - on Thursdays starting April 7.
Please be forewarned that Verizon Wireless
has not yet officially announced any of these release dates. The HTC ThunderBolt was rumored to launch in February, and its final release date was March 17. Verizon never releases a smartphone before its time and tests them first, which can delay release dates.
The Samsung Galaxy S Droid Charge 4G LTE is shown in the Verizon system as launching on April 7. The name of the smartphone has been speculated with many variations. The Samsung Stealth Droid Charge is the toughest competitor to the well-reviewed HTC ThunderBolt, which now holds the top smartphone
position at Verizon Wireless. It will work with Verizon Wireless' 4G
LTE network and will have a gorgeous Super AMOLED touchscreen.
We compared the Samsung Stealth Droid 4G Charge to the HTC ThunderBolt
and discovered that the features it has over the HTC ThunderBolt are
the Super AMOLED touchscreen, HDMI port, and 1500mAH battery. The
original announcement said that it had Skype.
On April 14, Verizon will launch the Sony Xperia Play, which is a hybrid of a Sony Playstation and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The Xperia Play has a 4-inch
touchscreen that slides out to reveal game-pad controls. It features
Wi-Fi hotspot modes, customized home screens, 5.1-megapixel camera,
Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a personal organizer, a speakerphone, Assisted-GPS,
messaging and email.
April 21 will be the release date for the HTC Trophy and Windows Phone 7 smartphone. The Verizon HTC Trophy, reportedly, is a Global smartphone with features that include a 3.8-inch 480 x 800 touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon (QSD8250)
processor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM radio and 5-megapixel camera with
LED flash.
Then on April 28, Verizon will release the Droid Incredible 2, which is suspected to be a Verizon-branded HTC Incredible S with Global connectivity. Suspected specs include a 4-inch SLCD touchscreen, 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor, 4GB internal storage, 768MB RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 1450mAh battery.
May is 4G Month, with May 5 releases for the LG Revolution. More 4G LTE smartphones will be the Motorola Droid Bionic, Droid X2 and Samsung Galaxy 2.
Ahaah! There will be two Samsung Galaxy S Super AMOLED 4G LTE smartphones from Verizon Wireless.
Many of these smartphones appear in our list of top Android an' Droid phones now and later that we have updated with the latest Verizon smartphone release dates.
