At some point, Droid screens can break and require replacement parts.  A supplier of smartphone parts is showing a Droid 3 with an OEM 4-inch replacement screen.  The Droid 3, which has not been announced yet, is the successor to the Droid and Droid 2 Global.

The part is called "OEM Motorola Droid 3, Motorola Targa LCD and Digitizer Assembly."  Sometimes this smartphone is called the Motorola Targa, which previously leaked photos showed to be 4G LTE-capable with an HDMI out port.  Previous photos also showed a 13MP camera, Android 2.2.1.  This is the first time we've seen the Droid 3 that is expected to connect to Verizon Wireless 5G-rated 4G LTE network data.

The Droid 3 has a 960 x 540 pixel screen with a suspected summer release date.  The Droid 2 was released in late summer of 2010, but with all the current Verizon smartphone delays, the Droid 3 may not be released until early fall.

The latest released Droid from Verizon is the Droid Incredible 2, launched a year after the original Droid Incredible.  The 4G LTE Samsung Droid Charge was due out yesterday but was delayed after a 4G LTE outage.  Also in the Droid works is the Droid X2.

Many of the phones mentioned in the article appear in our list of top Android an' Droid phones now and later.  Read all Droid 3 articles.
