It's amazing how fast a new, popular smartphone can sell out and become backordered while still in the preorder phase! Yesterday, online retailers, including Wirefly and LetsTalk, began taking preorders for the Samsung Droid Charge, offering discounts. We saw a preorder link for the Droid Charge at Amazon, and today Amazon Wireless is showing the Samsung Droid Charge already backordered with an 8 to10 day shipping delay. The nice thing about Amazon Wireless is that you get a $25 Amazon App Store credit, but you'll have to wait for it.
We are also seeing offers showing free mobile hotpsot trials on the Droid Charge until May 15.
The Samsung Droid Charge will go on sale April 28 at Verizon Wireless. The Samsung Droid Charge has a 1GHz processor, Android 2.2 Froyo 4G LTE, 4.3" super AMOLED touchscreen, an 8MP rear-facing camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and HDMI port. It also comes with the ability to connect to up to 10 mobile hotspots. Other features include a 1.3MP front-facing camera, 2GB of internal storage and 32GB on a microSD card. It uses the Verizon Wireless 5G-rated 4G LTE network.
So, will the Droid Charge sell out? We can't be sure. We do know that the best way to get a phone that may sell out is to order it online from Verizon Wireless in the wee hours of the morning (3:00 am EST) the day that it goes on sale.
