There is new evidence of a release date soon for a Droid smartphone from Verzion and most likely the Droid Incredible 2.
Verizon has reactivated the DroidLanding Twitter account, which suggests that a Droid will be landing at a Verizon Wireless soon.
Today, this tweet appeared "Reactivation protocols initiated. DSC operational. System test complete. Field agents await instructions."
The description of the DroidLanding Twitter accounts states "Expect the
unexpected from Droid. Monitor this feed to find out what will be
landing next." The Twitter accound that it links to is the official Verizon Droid Does portion of Verizon Wireless.
Droid fanatics are speculating that it may mean that the Droid Incredible 2 or the Samsung Droid Charge will have a near future release date. However, we think that the next Droid will be the Droid Incredible 2 for the following reasons:
- The Droid Incredible 2 app landed in Android Market, and the description says, "Do not download or
install this application, it is solely for use within Verizon Stores as
promotional tool." - It is almost the exact one-year anniversary of the release date of the original Droid Incredible.
- The Droid Incredible 2 appeared briefly on the Verizon website.
- Several sources familiar with Verizon have reported an April 28 release date for the Droid Incredible 2.
Specs of the Droid Incredible 2 include a 4-inch WVGA (800
x480) touchscreen (previous Incredible had a 3.7"), an 8MP camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 1GHz Qualcomm
processor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, STR WOW HD surround sound, and a 1450mAh battery. The Droid Incredible 2 will supposedly be priced at $199.99.
It appears in our list of top Android an' Droid phones now and later.
