While original Droid X owners are waiting for the OTA (Over-the-Air) update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the Droid spies have been shooting video and discovering the specs of the Droid X2, which is coming soon with a suspected release date of mid-May from Verizon Wireless.
Things that we already know is that the Droid X2 looks just like the Droid X, except it is missing a dedicated camera button. Like the original Droid X, data access is through 3G only. It will not have the super speedy 5G-rated 4G LTE access like the HTC ThunderBolt, Samsung Droid Charge and LG Revolution.
The Droid X2 reportedly has a battery life that is much greater than the original Droid X.
After running a benchmark test on the video, the Droid X2 has a final Quadrant score of 2,453, which almost doubles the original Droid X that has been known to have a Qundrant score of 1,442.
The Droid X2 has a qHD (540 x 960) touchscreen, Android 2.2 Froyo (updated to 2.3 Gingerbread later), NVIDIA
Tegra 2 dual-core 1GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 8-megapixel camera, FM radio,
locked/encrypted boot loader and HDMI port.
The Droid X2 will also supposedly ship with the latest version of MOTOBLUR, which includes new social media and music features.
The video shows that the Droid X2 will not have a front-facing camera.
Last week we learned that the Droid X2 will supposedly be priced at $199.99.
The Droid X2 appears in Wireless and Mobile News' top Android an' Droid phones now and later.
