Laptop Magazine has reviewed the extended battery for the HTC ThunderBolt. Verizon sells the 2750mAh battery that requires an extra cover, and once installed, it looks like the ThunderBolt is wearing a backpack, with the battery sticking out about a quarter of an inch.
Before you install the battery, the HTC ThunderBolt. weighs 6.5 ounces, and after installation it weights 7.4 ounces.
The original battery that comes with the HTC ThunderBolt had a battery life of 3.56 hours using 4G data access, while using 3G data access only gave it an hour more of use at 4.57. The extended battery lasted 6.52 hours, adding almost three hours of battery life.
Some HTC forum members have suggested swapping out the battery as well as shutting off BlackBuster video. Two batteries would produce close to 8 hours, while the extended battery would give close to 7 hours. Another excellent precautionary tip is to be sure to back up your settings.

original battery for $39.99 and a 2750 extended battery for $49.99.
HTC Forum members have used two batteries sold by Amazon - the HTC 2x1500mAh battery with a wall travel dock USB charger for $34.99 and the Seido Innocell 1600mAh battery
for $44.99. The batteries are 100mAh and 200mAh more than the original
1400mAh battery, which may add a bit more time. However, they should be fine to keep charged and swapped out with the original battery.
Some users have downloaded LTE OnOFF from Android Market to shut off 4G LTE, which will only add an hour of battery life.
