HTC & Samsung Verizon News: HTC Trophy, Samsung Gem & HTC Merge Emerge at Verizon

Sasmung Gem.JPGWebmasters sometimes can't help themselves from revealing smartphones before the carrier announces them.  Over the weekend, bloggers were able to capture sneak peeks of unannounced phones for the Verizon network, with the biggest clue "Offer valid through April 7, 2011" near the HTC Trophy that is expected to have an April launch date, which is now passed.

Also revealed and still searchable on Verizon Wireless were the Samsung Gem (on foreign language page) and HTC Merge in language selection page.  The Samsung Gem is free at Alltel, so we expect that it will be affordable when it comes to Verizon.  The HTC Merge just emerged at Alltel for $124.99 with a contract.  It is a global phone.
The Verizon HTC Trophy, reportedly, is a Global smartphone with features that include a 3.8-inch 480 x 800 touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon (QSD8250)
processor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM radio, and a 5-megapixel camera with
LED flash.

The Samsung Gem comes with Android 2.1 Eclair,
3.2-megapixel camera, 3.2-inch WQVGA display, 800MHz processor, GPS and
Wi-Fi.  Features include Social Media Hub, anti-scratch and smudge touchscreen, Bluetooth and music player.

The HTC Merge is very similar to the HTC EVO Shift 4G, with a 3.8-inch touchscreen, portrait slide-out keyboard, and Android 2.2.  It is a global world phone.  Features of the HTC Merge
include HTC Sense, a 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording,
Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Digital compass, G-sensor, Proximity sensor, Light
sensor, and GPS.

Verizon will be offering many smartphone choices for its customers, including the next most-anticipated smartphones, the Samsung Droid Charge, Droid Incredible 2 and Sony Xperia Play.  Many of these new smartphones appear in n Wireless and Mobile News' top Android an' Droid phones now and later.
