AT&T announced its first prepaid Android smartphone for its GoPhone service, the LG Thrive, and new prepaid data plans.
The LG Thrive has a 600MHz processor, 3.2-inch touchscreen, 3.2-megapixel camera, and it runs Android 2.2. Features include Bluetooth, 3G Data, 2GB microSD card, Wi-Fi, Microsoft Echange email support, and unlimited Wi-Fi access at AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots.
The silver prepaid LG Thrive will retail for $179.99 and will be released on April 17. AT&T also announced a contract version of the LG Thrive, dubbed the LG Phoenix, which is in dark blue and will cost $49.99 with a contract and will have mobile hotspot/tethering capabilities.
LG Thrive buyers must choose a data package in order to use data services:
- $25 for 500MB.
- $5 for 10MB (previously $4.99 for 1MB).
- $15 for 100MB (previously $19.99).
GoPhone voice plans are either 10 cents a minute or $2 a day unlimited talk and text.
