We know that Verizon has killed off the Droid Incredible as of March 31 and is no longer selling it. You can still nab the HTC Droid Incredible and Droid X for a penny at Amazon, but if you are forward thinking, you may want to consider the next Droid Incredible, the Droid Incredible 2, which is expected to have an April 21 or April 28 release date.
Verizon hasn't released any details about the Droid Incredible 2, but there are reviews appearing for the HTC Incredible S, and we previewed those reviews to see what you can expect from the HTC Droid Incredible 2. The HTC Incredible S has been launched and reviewed in the U.K. and Australia.
An Australian reviewer liked the HTC Incredible S better
than the Desire HD because the HTC Incredible S has better battery life, better performance and
a crisp, clear, bright screen. The only problem could be that the faster
dual-core smartphones will be coming.
The Super LCD is crisp and clear, noted Vlad Savov rating the HTC Incredible S
8 out of 10. The snapdragon processor with Adreno graphics helps game
playing and video viewing. He liked the HTC Sense UI but had some
problems viewing video and browsing. He also didn't like that it lacks
an HDMI out port.
Reviewers all over the world have raised the
bar on what to expect from a smartphone. We suspect after previewing
the reviews of the HTC Incredible S, that the Droid Incredible 2 will be
well-liked for the HTC Sense UI, 4" touchscreen and overall feel. Because it
doesn't have a dual-core processor, it should be reasonably priced and
suffice for most average users. The power users and first adopters
will be drooling and maybe dueling over the HTC ThunderBolt (read review), Samsung
Droid Charge (April release date) or LG Revolution (May release date). All 4G LTE Verizon smartphones are expected to be coming out in the next few
months.
Features of the Droid Incredible 2 are suspected to include a 4-inch WVGA (800
x480) touchscreen (previous Incredible had a 3.7"), a 1GHz Qualcomm
processor, 768 of RAM, 1.1GB of internal storage that is expandable via a
microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a 1450 mAh battery. The Droid Incredible 2 is expected to launch with Android 2.2 Froyo and will updated to Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
