As the smartphone wars heat up, dual-core processors are the most desirable, and the more gigahertz, the better. The Samsung Galaxy S II was announced at Mobile World Congress with a dual-core 1GHz processor. However, now Samsung has increased the processor to a 1.2GHz dual-core processor.
The Samsung Estonian Facebook page revealed the processor speed.
Update 04/07/11 @3:40pm A different Samsung Twitter @samsungtomorrow account confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S II is on schedule for an April Release Date. It will be gradually rolled out in each
market according to the local launch timetable.
The Samsung India Twitter page revealed the delay in two tweets:
"Samsung
Galaxy S II is not launching on the 13th April. We have not published
any advertisement in newspaper for the same. Avoid the rumor."
"Due
to delay in the global launch of SGS2, the device won't be launched
before June. And, its not just India but its delayed all over."
Features of the Samsung Galaxy SII include an 8MP camera/camcorder (1080 HD),
Super AMOLED Plus 4.3" touchscreen with power reduction, NFC, Bluetooth,
and special Samsung TouchWhiz UI. It comes with 1GB RAM on board, 16GB/32G
MicroSD (up to 32GB), A-GPS, and DLNA AllShare.
For American Samsung Galaxy S II lovers, no release date has been set yet.
We did see a little blip on the radar that a Samsung Galaxy S II may be coming from Verizon in May.
We suspect that the next Samsung phone due out in the United States will be the Samsung Droid Charge - the renamed Samsung Stealth that was announced at CES as the Samsung 4G LTE smartphone.
