It appears that carriers are loading release dates with multiple devices. Today, Verizon launches three new Android smartphones. Reports suggest that Sprint will release the Nexus S 4G, BlackBerry PlayBook and Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi - all on May 8.
A leaked advertisement shows the Wi-Fi-only Motorola Xoom tablet coming from Sprint with a May 8 release date.
The 10.1-inch widescreen HD tablet Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi comes with
Android 3.0 running a 1GHz dual-core processor, with 1GB of RAM, 2MP
front-facing camera, 5MP rear-facing camera, Bluetooth, HDMI out port,
accelerometer and sensors.
The Sprint Nexus S 4G has a 1GHz processor, a Super AMOLED curved
touchscreen, NFC technology, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, mobile hotspots,
GPS, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and camcorder, a front-facing VGA
camera, and a 1500mAh battery.
It also integrates with Google Voice
and comes loaded with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
The 7-inch (1024 x 600) touchscreen BlackBerry PlayBook
runs the new BlackBerry Tablet OS on a1GHz dual-core processor with 1GB
of RAM. The PlayBook supports Wi-Fi and Flash. It weighs less than one
pound.
