Microsoft announced new features on the next version of Windows Phone that it revealed at MIX 11.
New features of Windows Phone include enhanced multitasking, expanded Microsoft Office support, Twitter in the people hub, and a hardware-accelerated version of Internet Explorer with HTML 5. The software is called "Mango."
Microsoft is launching Windows Phone Developer Tools next month for Mango. New developer capabilities that enable new app scenarios are:
- "Multitasking" meets Integrated Experiences with Live Agents: Real time interactions via Live
Tiles, Push Notifications, Deep Linking and Background Agents.
Multitasking is also enhanced to allow for fast applications switching,
as well as background audio and file transfer. - Phone
Integration has been improved for developers looking to enable
their applications to do more with their apps. The Live Tiles, Extras
and push notifications functionality has been expanded to give
developers more flexibility to engage with their customers. - Developers
will also have access to the Motion Sensor library and the camera,
enabling amazing augmented reality experiences.
Microsoft previous update, NoDo, is not fully out yet. However, it looks like Microsoft is following Android with sweet names, such as Froyo and Gingerbread.
