Best Buy employees leaked screenshots of the next Droid smartphones coming from Verizon, the Droid 3 and Motorola Droid X2 listed as model numbers XT862 and MB870 respectively.
In an internal Best Buy document blogged about today, Best Buy employees were told that they can't say anything coming from "blogs and unofficial" sources because "much of this is unreliable and could mislead the customers."
Blogs and unofficial sources, after seeing the Best Buy screenshots, interpret the information as being available in the Best Buy system to mean that there will be release dates for the Droid 3 and Droid X2 soon. However, Verizon has been changing even officially announced release dates for 4G LTE-enabled smartphones recently, including the Samsung Droid Charge.Suspected features of the Droid 3 inlcude 4G LTE access, 4" (960 x 540 pixel) touchscreen, HDMI out port, 13MP camera, and Android 2.2.1.
Previous leaks suggest that the Droid X2 has a qHD (540 x 960) touchscreen, Android 2.2 Froyo (updated to 2.3 Gingerbread later), NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core 1GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 8-megapixel camera, FM radio, locked/encrypted boot loader and HDMI port.
The screenshot also shows the officially delayed Droid Bionic.
Both Droid smartphones appear in Wireless and Mobile News' top Android an' Droid phones now and later. Read all Droid X2 or Droid 3 articles.
