Droid News: Droid Charge Godoted, Still Waiting for Release Date, Mid-May?

Mid-MayRelease.jpgThe release date of the Droid Charge is now at least thirteen days later than its official original April 28 release date, leaving many wondering what's happening and causing caustic literary allusions to the play about waiting, "Waiting for Godot."  There have been clues that suggest we may see the latest well-reviewed 4G LTE smartphone from Verizon Wireless in the middle of this month.

The last Tweet from DroidLanding announced that all the Droid Charge smartphones were found, with no clue about a release date except that Samsung Mobile USA tweeted last week that a release date would be posted to their Twitter page.

Jack Gold, an analyst at J. Gold Associates, said Verizon is most likely trying to make sure it can handle the added LTE network demand from the Droid Charge.

The most encouraging clue is an email sent from the Verizon Affiliate program that reported about the next 4G Droid Launch, "expect launch in mid-May."  It follows a typo that instead of "postponed" it's written as posted, so the date could be a typo too.  Mmmmn mid-May could mean this week or next week. The launch must be imminent because on Sunday, we found the Droid Charge FAQ with some great tips.

An astute Twitterer discovered that the previous banners and information about the Samsung Droid Charge had been removed from the landing page of the Verizon website yesterday.  He was worried that the removal meant a much later release date.  However, a new Droid Charge ad reappeared today at Verizon Wireless.

There are lots of tweets with anxious people waiting for a Droid Charge ASAP, such as:
"Vladimir: "Waiting for Godot?" Estragon: "No, for the Samsung Droid Charge"
"Where the freak is the Droid Charge?"
"Another day and still no Droid Charge. What's up?"
"Is Apple lawsuit against Samsung the cause of Samsung Droid Charge being in limbo?"

Online retailers that discount the initial price of the well-reviewed Samsung Droid Charge, Wirefly and LetsTalk, are taking preorders for the Samsung Droid Charge and are charging less for it.  Amazon Wireless shows it backordered.
