Apple has released updates for iPhone 3GS, IPhone 4, iPad, iPad 4 and the Verizon iPhone 4,which fix the controversial tracking data cache store on devices and iTunes.
The updates changed the iOS crowdsourced location database cache. It reduces the size of the cache, doesn't back it up to iTunes, and deletes the cache entirely when Location Services is turned off.The iOS 4.3.3 update is available now through iTunes. iOS 4.2.8, with the same tracking fix, is available for the Verizon Wireless iPhone on iTunes, too.
The previous version of iOS stored a database of up to a year's worth of Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower locations.
