Nexus One users are getting notices that an update is available OTA (Over-the-Air) to Android 2.3.4. The update does not include video chat because the Nexus One does not have a front-facing camera.
The update to Android 2.3.4 will only work if you have not rooted your phone. The update fixes battery life issues and improves GPS location/navigation accuracy. If you haven't received Android 2.3.3 yet, 2.3.4 will introduce you to several new features, such as Google Maps 5.1 with 3D, Voice Search 2.1.1 with Voice Actions and personalized voice search, and the latest version of Google Books.
Be sure that your Nexus One is at least 40% charged. It is always a good idea to back up your data and contacts first. You will not be able to make emergency phone calls during the update process.
The Nexus One now has Gingerbread. Features of Gingerbread include overall speed improvements, new copy/paste throughout, updated Google maps, backup of settings, improved voice commands, browser customization, quick links from browser, downloads manager, and battery usage features.
