Samsung Droid Charge not Released for Mom-day - Monday Release Date Update

Samsung Droid Charge Release Delayed.JPGThe mystery behind the delay of the release of the 4G LTE Samsung Droid Charge by Verizon Wireless continues.  In a Mother's Day news release, the Samsung Droid Charge was suggested to be a great gift for Mom, but when we called the Verizon spokeswoman, she said that it was a mistake.  Meanwhile, retail employees continue to leak internal documents with the where, why, and wherefore of the Samsung Droid Charge release date.

Update 05/10/11 2:00pm - A Verizon affiliates document suggests a mid-May release date, while some compare the wait for the Droid Charge to "Waiting for Godot."

Android Central revealed a new leaked Costco Document that states, "Verizon is committed to delivering a high quality experience on 4G devices.  The Samsung Droid Charge product is currently on hold and cannot be sold.  Additional launch updates will be provided on Monday, May 9."  The source given was named anon.

A leak from an internal Walmart system dated May 4 states, "Do not attempt to sell a Verizon Droid Charge on contract or off contract.  Verizon is not supporting activations due to an issue with functionality in their system.  When the handset appears in your kiosk AND a priority note is posted giving permissions, THEN you will be allowed to sell it."

Therefore, the sleuths deduce that the Samsung Droid Charge is having problems with activations.  During the April 27 Verizon 4G LTE outage, activations were impossible.

We scoured Twitter for tweeted clues.  According to Kyle Soupe in West Palm Beach, his Verizon rep said at a mall that the Samsung Droid Charge shipments have arrived in their warehouse.  We also found excellent Samsung Droid Charge tips.

Samsung Mobile USA tweeted during the week that a released date would be posted to their Twitter page.  Other Verizon smartphone release dates were also revealed on the same day.

Online retailers that discount the initial price of the well-reviewed Samsung Droid Charge, Wirefly and LetsTalk, are taking preorders for the Samsung Droid Charge and are charging less for it.  Amazon Wireless shows it backordered.
