Samsung Droid Charge Tips: FAQ Answered for Droid Charge by Samsung

SamsungDroidChargeFascinate.JPGAlthough you officially can't buy the Droid Charge by Samsung with its looming release date, you can still get your questions answered.  The FAQ for the Samsung Droid Charge has been posted, and it contains some neat tips and tricks as well as revealing super fast data speeds.
 
The Samsung Droid Charge may need some help saving battery life because theres' a tip on how to use the Power Control Widget on it.
Some good things we've been able to gleam from the questions and answers are:

  • The Think Free Office app is preloaded to allow for viewing and editing Microsoft Office files.  Think Free Office also allows to share documents online.
  • The Feeds & Updates widget allows to synchronize feeds and updates from MySpace, Twitter, & Facebook on your phone.
  • The Manage Applications option allows the user to Force Stop (essentially close) running third-party applications that the user may not need immediate access to, thus increasing memory allocation for applications that are needed more often.
  • You can copy contacts to your SIM Card.
  • Within the documentation is a chart of speed tests that compare the Samsung Fascinate and Droid Charge.  Both smartphone have a 1GHz Hummingbird processor.  The chart shows that the average data speeds for the Droid Charge are 10.123 Mbps down and 2.120 Mbps up, while the Samsung Fascinate averages 2.275 Mbps down and 1.0123 Mbps up.  Click on the chart above to expand.
  • The Text-to-speech feature, when installed, allows audible readout of on-screen data, such as in-bound caller information.  This feature can work in conjunction with Bluetooth headsets.

Some Other Facts:

By default, the Droid Charge will store pictures and videos on an installed microSD card, which is an option.  With limited onboard memory, it is not possible to configure the device to save files into the Phone area.
