The soon-to-be-released, from Verizon Wireless, Sony Xperia Play smartphone will not be affected by the recent Sony PlayStation data-security breach, reported Reuters.
"Sony and Sony Ericsson data reside on different servers," the spokesman told reporters.
PlayStation Suite, the mobile part of the PlayStation network, will open as planned later this year. The Sony Xperia mini and mini pro, announced yesterday, are also not affected.The Xperia Play runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a 4-inch touchscreen that slides out to reveal game pad controls. It features Wi-Fi hotspot modes, customized home screens, a 5.1-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a personal organizer, a speakerphone, Assisted-GPS, messaging and email. The suspected release date from Verizon Wireless is later this month for $199 with a contract.
