Verizon Wireless has announced that the Xperia Play will have a May 26 release with presales starting on May 19 and priced at $199 with a contract. May 26 is also the suspected release date for the Droid X2 and LG Revolution.
The Xperia Play runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with a 4-inch
touchscreen that slides out to reveal game pad controls similar to the Sony PlayStation.It has a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon II processor with Adreno 205 GPU, and it features
mobile hotspot modes, customized home screens, a 5.1-megapixel camera,
Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, a personal organizer, a speakerphone, Assisted-GPS,
messaging and email.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will come preloaded with Madden NFL 11, Bruce Lee Dragon
Warrior, Asphalt 6, Adrenaline, The Sims 3, Star Battalion, Crash Bandicoot, and
Tetris. More than 50 "Play"
game titles will be available at launch for download via V CAST Apps.
Data for the gaming smartphone is safe, reported a Sony spokesman.
