Droid News: Droid 3 Cousin Milestone 3 Dual-Core 8MP & Android 2.3 Q3 Release Date

Motorola MIlestone Droid 3.JPGThere is a milestone in Droidness today. Motorola announced, in China, the Motorola Milestone 3, a close clone to the Droid 3, before making any U.S. announcements.  The Motorola Milestone will come to China in the third quarter of 2011.  Previously, the Droid Milestones came out from Verizon first, then were launched in Europe.

Leaked sneak peeks this week were correct.  The Milestone 3 was announced at China Telecom's CDMA Summit.  The news release claims that the powerful dual-core processor of the Motorola Milestone XT883 is twice as fast as industry-average, single-core processors.
Features of the Motorola XT883 include a 4-inch qHD(960 x 540) touchscreen, Android 2.3, an 8 megapixel
camera, a front-facing camera, Android 2.3.3 MotoBlur, 1080p video
recording, HDMI out, SIM for world roaming, Wi-Fi, a 5-row QWERTY keyboard, 16GB memory on board, and a 1500mAh battery.

The dual-core processor is the NVDIA Tegra according to the photo of it.

Gameloft recently added the Motorola XT862 Droid 3 to its list of compatible smartphones.

In
the Droid family history, the Verizon Droids have almost the same
genes and workings of the Motorola MIlestone family but were branded as
Verizon.

Okay, so when will the release date be for the Droid 3 from Verizon?  There is one rumor that it will be July 7, and some are saying the fourth of July weekend.  There has been no announcement, yet, from Verizon.

It the Droid 3 is a an 4G LTE smartphone, it could be delayed like two of the Verizon Awesome 4G-Threesome:  the HTC ThunderBolt and Samsung Droid Charge.  The LG Revolution was not delayed.  All three of the Awesome 4G-Threesome have the free mobile hotspot feature extended until July 6.
