The Samsung Droid Charge beat out the HTC ThunderBolt as the top selling
Android smartphone at Verizon stores.
They reported that the 4G LTE HTC ThunderBolt on Verizon outsold the iPhone in Verizon stores during its first
few weeks of launch, based on their previous survey.
They contend that the longer battery life
and high-end camera of the Samsung Droid Charge appear to be strong selling
points.The HTC ThunderBolt is falling behind the Samsung Droid Charge by a
wide margin. Ninety percent of Verizon stores reported that
the Samsung Droid Charge was the top selling Android smartphone. The factors advancing sales are commissions and that the Samsung Droid Charge was recently launched.
Of the Verizon stores that were contacted, just over half named the iPhone
the best seller, while 38% of the stores reported that the iPhone was
selling equally to either the
Samsung Droid Charge or the
HTC ThunderBolt.
Sales associates noted battery life as the primary benefit of the Samsung Droid Charge
over the HTC ThunderBolt, while some buyers liked the HTC Sense user interface.
Apple's success at Verizon was attributed to its ease of use
and prior ownership. One salesperson called the iPhone
"the grandma phone" because it's easy to use.
We find it interesting that the LG Revolution, which came out on May 26 and is one of the Verizon Awesome 4G-Threesome, was not metioned. We dared to compare all the advantages of the the LG Revolution vs Samsung Droid Charge vs HTC ThunderBolt to find only a few compelling features for the LG Revolution.
So far, Verizon has not released a dual-core 4G LTE smartphone. Some of our Facebook fans are suggesting that Verizon is holding off the introduction of the dual-core 4G LTE Droid Bionic until they start offering tiered data plans.
The Samsung Droid Charge at Amazon Wireless is discounted to $179.99 for new and renewing customers with a contract. Amazon Wireless has discounted the price of the HTC ThunderBolt to $129.99 for new customers with a contract and $179.99 for renewing customers. The 4G LTE LG Revolution is priced at $149.99 at Amazon Wireless for new customers with a contract.
