Facebook fans will be able to check their friends' status and state their status on the HTC Status, previously called the ChaCha. The new name makes sense because it could easily be confused with the text service ChaCha, which was why ChaChas sued HTC for trademark infringement.
It also makes HTC Sense with the HTC Sense UI with a customizable lock screen, photo special effects and smart ringer (read HTC Sense 3.0 tips).
The HTC Status has a dedicated Facebook status button that instantly posts messages to Facebook walls, video/photo for check-ins to Places and instant sharing of music listening.
The press release announced a summer release date, announced via the
HTC and AT&T Facebook sites. Previous leaked documents and filed FCC
documents suggest a release date around July 17.
The HTC Status has Wi-Fi,
Bluetooth, memory expandable up to 32GB via a
microSD slot, and a unique tilt design and QWERTY
keyboard. It features
dual cameras, including a 5-megapixel color camera with autofocus, LED
flash, and a VGA front-facing camera. The HTC Status also has a 2.6-inch 480 x 320
resolution touchscreen, GPS, and HTC Sense.
Nice looking phone, quickly post to FB pictures or videos - makes it easy.
